Looking for a hearty side dish to please any crowd? Or to serve as your vegetable dish with a holiday meal? Give this simple-to-make delicious creamed corn recipe a try. The MSG enhances the flavor of the corn (which can be either fresh or frozen corn).
Gulliver's Creamed Corn
- 2 20-oz. packages frozen corn kernels thawed
- 1 cup whipping cream
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. MSG
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- white or cayenne pepper to taste
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- 2 Tbsp. butter
Place corn kernels, whipping cream, milk, salt, MSG, sugar, and pepper in a large stockpot. Bring to a slow, low boil beginning on medium heat, stirring frequently. Simmer for 5 minutes on low heat.
Melt butter in the microwave, or in a small saucepan on low heat. Whisk in flour until smooth. Stir into the corn until well blended. Serve hot.
